Up to 3 million people die each year of malaria. As populations expand exponentially this undoubtedly has a large effect on World population. What is the effect on population increase of finding a means of preventing the spread of this disease?

Good to see that the tweeting function works without any hassle. It is certainly a good idea if the malarial parasites can be kept in the blood cells, but then what happens to the infected blood cells, does it reduce the capacity for carrying oxygen molecules? Also, on the ethical standpoint, should we find a way to kill the malarial parasite completely?

I love the way that the scientists are extracting these parasites from blood cells, it does sound a bit like Species (the film).
