An audio tour of the synchrotron (for dummies)

As a physics drop-out at school, I felt a little nervous prior to visiting the Diamond Light Source synchrotron in Oxfordshire. Electrons, accelerators, diffraction patterns… these terms scared me because I didn’t understand them. But in the capable hands of Laura Holland, Diamond’s outreach manager, and following a tour of the facility, these concepts now had a context and came to life - so much so that by the end of day I was granted an honorary physics degree!
