Funding research in Africa

Talk of Western ‘donor funding’ in Africa and invariably an image comes to mind of shipments of food and medicine for starving, malnourished children and great swathes of sick people living in squalor.

However, there is increasing awareness by donors of the value of research that’s designed to address those needs; more importantly research in Africa by African researchers.
